A beautiful antique 19th century Turkish Ottoman jacket, it is a mens jacket but could be worn by men or women.

The jacket has been laboriously hand sewn, it has a silk thread weave on golden cream and red coral on a tough burlap backing.

The silk threads form a grand amalgamation of reds, purple, amber and gold.

It is adorned all over with gold metal thread with metal sequins trembleuse and large domed brass rivets, it has a mandarin style collar which fastens through the top and down the mid section with brass hook and loop fasteners.

It is fitted at the waist and flares out on the hips in traditional style, with traditional sleeves and shoulders which are covered with sequins and metal thread.

This beautiful piece has been carefully hand painted by Old Paris masters with a 16th century courtship scene featuring a courtier and lady in a decadent interior, striking cobalt blue and ground gilt on a smooth white porcelain base, two piece with a screw bottom and lovely upscrolled palmette handles.

It is unsigned c1820, in very good condition with some loss of gilding on the base and handles and some rusting of the screw where the piece has held water.

This set is very pretty and features an elaborate and unusual engraved and etched pattern of flowers and foliage, an uncommon pattern.

Late Edwardian era made by a renowned cutler and silversmiths of the period; Joseph Rodgers and Sons, Sheffield, England.

The spoons and tongs both feature the same pattern and are each fully hallmarked for Sheffield, 1909, JR with the signature star and cross stamp.

They are in a used antique condition and show signs of wear but they are still completely usable and make a beautiful set in the original case.
