150.00 USD

Takeuchi Seiho Woodcut – An original moku hanga woodcut by well listed Japanese artist and woodcutter of the early twentieth century. The artist is very well known for his nuanced style in the tradition of moku hanga printmaking wherein he’s utilized the soft edge and inking method to create a softer image more closely related to the traditions of sumi-e brush painting, in China, and one stroke Zen painting in Japan. The image indeed is very Zen like, the imagery resembling the Ten Famous Ox Herding Pictures. A woman is leading her flock of sheep, a bundle of stick precariously tied to her back. The image is signed with the artist’s chop mark to the lower left below a pair of characters in black. Selling Unframed.
